Overview

We are pleased to host the first annual Student AI Competition. The competition is an opportunity for students to learn and showcase their expertise in a friendly, yet spirited, competition in the exciting field of Artificial Intelligence. Held as part of the Saudi HPC and AI program, the Student AI Competition is designed to introduce the next generation of students to the high-performance computing and AI communities. The competition is open for teams of (up to maximum of 3) undergraduate and/or high school students from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The competition aims to inspire students to pursue careers in the field, and teach the breadth of skills, technologies, and science necessary to build, train and optimize deep neural networks to solve real-world problems. In this real-time, non-stop, 2-days challenge, teams of students will be given an AI problem with an initial solution that they need to improve using a variety of techniques and tuning parameters, while taking advantage of computational resources from the public cloud. Each team will make a submission of their designed model to the Kaggle data science platform and will be ranked internationally. There will be mentors available during the competition to provide help and assistance.

Winning teams will be recognized at the closing session of the conference and will receive valuable prizes.

Some rules to be aware of:

  • Only the undergraduate and/or high school students are allowed to participate as team members.
  • All hints will be shared with all the teams at the same time.
  • Teams will be given an equal allocation of computational resources with a public cloud provider.
  • There is a limited number of teams that can be accepted – please apply early. (The committee will make a selection if the number of proposed teams is higher than what the conference can accommodate).
